Written By The Art of Business Content Team

So, you’ve created all the social media profiles for your business. You post to them occasionally. You even have a decent number of followers who engage with you from time to time. Yet…you can’t help but wonder…where is the business?

Shouldn’t there be some solid results for all of your hard work on social media?

Absolutely! However, there are some strategies and tricks that you need to know to turn those likes into serious leads and, ultimately into clients!

At The Art of Business, we are seasoned PROS at sharing the insider tips that can turn your social media strategy from blah to AMAZING. Here are 7 proven ways that you can turn likes into leads.

Tip #1: Know Your Ideal Client (And Where to Find Them)

Do you know who your ideal client is and where they hang out? You might be barking up the wrong tree if your ideal clients are on Instagram and you’re putting all of your efforts into Facebook.

Overall, the most popular social network among Canadians is Facebook. YouTube is the next most popular, with 72% of the population saying they use the platform regularly. Third, fourth, and fifth place are occupied by Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest, respectively. LinkedIn is used regularly by 24% of the population.

However, did you know that, globally, TikTok is more popular than Pinterest or Twitter? Keep your eye on this platform to be a game-changer!

It’s interesting to also look at demographics. Generally, Facebook is used across all age groups, but Instagram is more popular among younger people. Higher earners and college graduates are more likely to use LinkedIn than people with other demographic markers. Yet, realize that although Facebook remains widely popular, it may be harder to reach your audience there because it is so huge.

Also, did you know that the biggest group of users on Pinterest is women aged 25-34? Pinterest does tend to attract more female users, but that gap is quickly closing. So, if you think that you’ll only find women on Pinterest, know that times are changing!

With this in mind, you can begin to get an idea of where you should put in your social media marketing efforts.

PRO TIP: Think about the type of content you’re going to create and how it can or will be viewed on the platform of your choice. For example, “How to” videos are huge on YouTube. However, interacting with your audience through chat, comments, and DMs might be easier on other platforms. Instagram is great for sharing both images and videos.

Tip #2: Create a Recognizable Brand and Voice

When your audience views your social media posts, they should know without checking that it’s from you. You need excellent branding and voice consistency to stay recognizable to your audience. For example, use your brand colours, choose the same filters, and maintain a style. Other things to think about include your font, whether your tone is formal or informal, and how you might incorporate your logo.

Tip #3: Be Consistent

Do you know what the key is to success on social media and in your business in general? Consistency. Remember, the tortoise won the race, not the hare! So, you have to plod along and let all of those small actions add up. Engage consistently with your audience on and offline. Post on a regular schedule and never stop. Answer each comment and every DM. Show up to your workplace and answer the phone, reply to the email, and greet your clients.

When you’re consistent, you build trust with your clients and audience. This is key if you want your followers to turn into leads.

Plus, when you put your name and your logo out consistently before your audience, they’ll remember you. Then, when they require your product or services, they might think of you!

Tip #4: Build an Email List

Do you want a super special group of followers who love and support you? That is what your email list can be! Invite your clients and followers into this special inner circle so that you can talk to them via email.

With an email list, you can have deeper conversations, keep your audience up to date on your journey, and entice them with discounts, sales, or special events!

One way to build your email list is with a lead magnet or opt-in. You offer your followers a FREE eBook, tool, report, discount, or promotion in exchange for their email address. You can advertise it on social media and watch your list grow.

Tip #5: Show Up and Show Who You Are

To turn followers into leads, your audience needs to know, like, AND trust your business. This is the recipe for success! One of the most effective ways we know to achieve this is for you to show them who you are.

Show your face, go live, and be vulnerable (even for a few seconds!). People really do buy from people. When you show your face, you connect with your audience, give them a face to remember, and become more trustworthy.

Tip #6: Offer Exclusive Deals to Your Followers

According to ExactTarget, when liking a company on Facebook, users expect to get access to exclusive deals such as sales, discounts, or events. So, if you want to keep your followers and turn them into happy clients, you’ll have to give up the goods! Get creative and offer coupon codes, offer free training, or do give-away contests! In the process, you can also gain more followers by asking users to share the content or like your page in order to gain access to the codes, training, or enter a contest.
